From Dr. Thurow: I am delighted to announce that our little school has just this morning passed a truly significant milestone. We are now officially accredited in the state of Tennessee through the Chesterton Schools network. The network recently became an officially recognized accrediting agency through the National Council for Private School Accreditation (NCPSA). We have been […]

From Dr. Thurow: I hope you will pardon my offering just a few half-baked thoughts this week about St. Joseph, whose feast day we celebrated on Thursday. Students baked up a storm, created lovely decorations and artwork, and prayed for all the fathers in the community. I confess that I particularly enjoyed the beautiful art […]

From Dr. Thurow: Since the last musings the United States has (de facto) gone to war. It can be argued that Christ demands true pacifism from His followers and thus condemns all war, but a complex tradition of theorizing about what makes a war just or unjust, spanning two millennia of Christian thought, suggests the issue has been […]

From Dr. Thurow: Believe their websites and you’ll be convinced that almost every school in existence will “teach students how to think”, “develop critical thinking”, “achieve academic excellence”, “accomplish a rigorous curriculum”, “experience diversity”, “achieve full potential”, “ideals”, “achieve excellence”, “become a life-long-learner” etc. They say the same things because they hire from the same […]

From Dr. Thurow: Our Juniors and Seniors are now reading Don Quixote, a hilarious, often crass and irreverent, but truly thoughtful book that is considered in Spanish in a very similar light to how Shakespeare’s works are considered in English. But no one could mistake Don Quixote for a work of Shakespeare’s! It stands as […]

From Dr. Thurow: At Mass on Friday we heard the wonderful story of Saul hunting for David to kill him, rather than be replaced by him. Saul rests in the very cave where David is hiding and David’s men try to persuade him to kill the jealous king. David, not wishing to dishonor the Lord’s […]

From Dr. Thurow: It was truly educational to go to the capitol this week and see how part of the process of lawmaking actually works, not just the procedure–a book can explain that–but what the actual conversations look like between lobbyists and legislators. The atmosphere of the place, the expressions of the busy clerks, lobbyists, […]

From Dr. Thurow: Congratulations to Mrs Robinson, Mrs. Cruz, Mr. Carswell, and all the students on a delightful, energetic, and funny first annual Arts Night! What a wonderful way to end our first semester! Chesterton is unusual in that the arts are not extra-curricular activities, but an essential part of the core of the education […]

From Dr. Thurow: My last musings were so long and academic I thought I’d give the internet a week off before continuing. Last time I examined the shortcomings of the predominant academic fads: Deconstructionism, New Historicism, topical theories, and what is usually called “rhetoric”. None of these approaches, of course, are what we seek to […]

From Dr. Thurow: I’d like to muse a little about how we approach the Great Books at Chesterton Academy of the Incarnation. As I have been lamentably sick for the end of this week and the weekend, however, I hope you will pardon me for starting slowly. I also get a little academic-y when on […]

New Location

We are excited to announce that Chesterton Academy of the Incarnation will be located at St. Philip Catholic Church in downtown Franklin during the 2026-27 academic year!
