From Dr. Thurow:
I want to offer great thanks to all our Chesterton Academy of the Incarnation students for their beautiful singing at the Mass of the Holy Spirit. St. Augustine has several meditations upon singing and the human voice, but one of his most striking is in his Confessions where he addresses the honor and the obligation that the gift of the human voice places upon us. All of creation praises God in its very existence and its beauty, but it is voiceless. Humanity alone has been given a voice and through it we are made to praise God, not only for what he has given us, but on behalf of all creation. When we raise our voices in the song of prayer we do so as the representatives of all of God’s grateful creation. The students made their faculty feel blessed, humbled, and honored at the Mass of the Holy Spirit with the fruit of their hard work. Let us all raise our voices together to thank God for this loving community and ask Him for many blessings to come for the school and for all these beautiful young souls.
